Every Spring, we start planning for the following school year. This process starts with getting feedback from each and every one of our families. We need you to let us know if they will be returning in the Fall of 2022. So far, only 360 of our students’ families have responded to our Intent to Return to Cherrywood Form. If you have not filled out the Intent to Return to Cherrywood Form, we would appreciate it if you use this link to fill out this form by Wednesday 5/18. It will only take a couple of minutes. Please click HERE to fill out the form. Thanks for your cooperation!
I hope everyone enjoyed this past weekend with family and had some time to celebrate the mom-figures in your life who care for so many. Happy Mother’s day to moms, aunts, grandmas, cousins, and many others who take such good care of us all!!!
As the year winds down, there are still so many happenings going on here at Cherrywood. Please look at our full calendar for this month and set aside some time to get involved before the year ends.
This week, we will be wrapping up our statewide SBAC testing with our fifth graders taking the CA Science Test or CAST portion of the test. We just finished testing all of our third, fourth, and fifth graders in English Language Arts and Math. Thank you upper grade parents for making sure your child was here every day and on time to help them to be ready to do their best on this test. Your child's test results will be emailed to you in the summer. We are looking forward to seeing the academic growth that our students have made on this state assessment. Remember, this is one of the many pieces of data that we use to measure the growth of our students' academic success.
We also want to thank our entire staff for the amazing team that they are! Thank you for helping us celebrate Staff Appreciation Week with your gifts, treats, flowers, personal notes, and more. Also, a BIG thanks to our Home and School Club for coordinating daily treats for the staff last week to show how much they are appreciated. The staff was treated to a Mendecino Farms picnic lunch, Tastea boba drinks, Stan’s donuts, Crimenelli fine meats and cheeses and more.
Finally, we want to wish our school secretary, Ms. Jessica Wong, the best as she will be moving with her family soon. Her last day will be Friday, May 13th. We appreciate the care, time and effort that Ms. Jessica has dedicated to Cherrywood for the past two and half years to ensure that it’s a place where Learning for a Lifetime happens. She was especially an invaluable part of our staff as we navigated through the waters of Covid over the past couple of years. She has brought continuity and organization to our school during these very uncertain times. We will all miss her very much!
I am happy to announce that Ms. Maria Rosales, our current office clerk, will be our new school secretary starting Monday, May 16th. Ms. Maria has also been an invaluable part of our office staff as she also helped us through the uncharted waters of Covid these past couple of years. She brings commitment, enthusiasm, and care to work every day to do what’s best for kids. In the meantime, we are in the process of hiring someone to fill the position of office clerk.
Once again, we hope you join us for some end of the year fun in the next couple of weeks!
We encourage our staff and families to register your students for weekly school site testing, especially during this Winter season. Schedules vary by site. Please contact your school to learn your weekly testing day. This registration process also provides permission for your students to be tested when they are considered a close contact for school exposure if response testing is available and helps expedite that process. As a reminder, if you are notified to pick up your child from school for exposure, please be sure to check them out from the office. There will be additional information for testing and isolation that you will be provided.
To ensure the safety and supervision of our students during lunch time, we have a couple open positions for a NOON DUTY SUPERVISOR. This position is a great way to be an active part of our school community on a daily basis and get paid. Noon duty aides get to oversee students during students’ favorite part of their school day. If you or someone you know is interested in this position, please contact Duy Tran in HR at 408-923-1851 to apply or click HERE to apply. We would love for you to join our Cherrywood team.
